Tournament Recap

The boys' cross-country team had a very eventful fall break of tournament races, beginning with a runner-up finish in the Sectionals.  The team ran very well, highlighted by the individual sectional champion Mark Bond.  Hari Sathyamurthy ran to a 6th place finish as well.

Next up for the Dogs was the Regional Championship, where the team ran incredibly and placed 3rd behind Zionsville and Avon.  Amazingly, all seven varsity boys ran personal best times on the wet and soggy Ben Davis course, led once again with a convincing victory by Mark Bond. The performance of the day, however, went to sophomore Hari Sathyamurthy, who was the runner-up with a mind boggling 1 minute personal record! He was followed by Elijah Wagner, Seth Webster, Marcus Fierek, Brandon Britton, and Jack Thomas.

The top 20 teams in the Semistate went to battle last Saturday, with the Bulldogs coming home in a very impressive 9th place finish, only 3 spots out of qualifying for the state finals. The support of the junior varsity Bulldog crazies helped to spur the boys on to a great race.  The Dogs were led by Sathyamurthy but also had extremely strong races from Webster and Britton.  The boys end their season with a strong record of 103 wins versus 72 losses.

2013 REGIONALS RECAP

The boys' cross-country team came into regional action Saturday morning at Ben Davis High School as the #5 seeded team but came home in 3rd place after an incredible performance on the rainsoaked course.  All seven of the Bulldog harriers set all-time personal record times over the 5K distance to easily outdistance fourth-place Ritter and fifth-place Ben Davis.  Zionsville and Avon claimed the top two spots, but the fireworks on the morning were reserved for the 1-2 individual finishes of regional champion Mark Bond and regional runner-up Hari Sathyamurthy of Brownsburg.  Bond ran away from the competition midway through the race, and Sathyamurthy closed fast to crush his personal record by a full one minute! Elijah Wagner, Seth Webster, and Marcus Fierek closed out the scoring positions for the Dogs, while Brandon Britton and Jack Thomas added crucial depth. This finish moves the team on to the semistate championships next Saturday in Carmel.

The boys' cross-country team earned an impressive runner up finish at the South Putnam sectional Tuesday evening, coming up short by only 15 points to a talented Avon squad but beating the other 10 teams by huge margins! Not to be outdone, junior Mark Bond ran to the individual sectional championship by bettering second-place by 10 seconds.  Bond was joined on the "All Sectional" team by sophomore Hari Sathyamurthy, who toured the hilly 5K course in 17 minutes 5 seconds and placed 6th. Seth Webster ran a great race to finish 12th, followed across the line by Marcus Fierek and Elijah Wagner in 14th and 15th, respectively.  The Dogs made big gains against the boys from Avon from last week's county championship.  The team advances to Saturday's regional at Ben Davis High School, with a semi-state birth on the line.

Hendricks County Meet Recap

The boys' cross-country team came home as runners-up in the Hendricks County Championships yesterday in Danville, falling to champion Avon High School but easily outdistancing 3rd-place Plainfield High School. Mark Bond, in addition, was not to be outdone, as he became the individual county champion by touring the 3.1 mile course in 16 minutes and 33 seconds! Mark's victory kept the individual county championship in the hands of a Bulldog for the sixth consecutive year.

The JV Dogs were once again led by Devon Boone in a personal record time of 18 minutes 11 seconds.  "Dog of the Meet" winners on the evening for exceptional performances were Riley Koester with a 45 seconds personal record and Zach Underwood, who smashed his best ever time by 38 seconds! BHS Boys' XC Memo for August 26th

CC parents & team,

Tomorrow's practice: I just wanted to remind/inform all of you that Tuesday's practice this week begins and ends at Eagle Creek Park (3:30 - 5:30).  We meet in the small parking lot just southeast of the park.  Coming from Brownsburg, you go past the park entrance on 56th St and make your first right about 50 yards after the park.  The parking lot is right there on the left. Do not go into the park.

All of the boys today said that they have rides now.  Six of them will be riding with Mrs. Bond, a few with Mrs. Waggoner, and I have room for a couple more if need be.  I will be returning to the high school if anybody needs a ride back.  Boys, make sure to bring all of your clothes, bookbags, etc. with you, as we will not be getting back into the locker rooms after practice.

Paperwork & Fee: Most of the boys are done with having parents electronically sign the paperwork online and pay the $100 activity fee. Today is the deadline if you have not done so! Go to the athletic department web site and click on "information" to access those forms.

Riding home with parents: There is a new online form to be filled out each time a team member rides with a parent after a meet. Please remember that all team members must ride the bus unless going to a function outside Brownsburg after the meet.  Thank you!

Plainfield Relays

The boys' cross-country team was in action again Saturday at the Plainfield Relays, a race in which pairs alternate one-mile repeats for a total of 6 miles.  The Bulldogs had a very strong showing, placing 7th out of 18 teams, thanks in big part to our #1 team of Mark Bond and Hari Sathyamurthy.  The dynamic duo placed 10th overall out of 80 finishers.  Bond had the team’s fastest average, traversing the course at a clip of 4 minutes and 55 seconds per mile!

Sathyamurthy followed Bond's pace, averaging 5:08 per mile, while Elijah Wagner (5:16 per mile), Brandon Britton (5:21 per mile), Marcus Fierek (5:22), and Seth Webster (5:23) turned in stellar performances on the flat, grassy loop.  Caleb Krizan was the top Brownsburg finisher in the JV race, cruising 2 miles in a time of 11:50.

CC team & parents,

Please make note of the following items:

·         Some team members still have not turned in their expectation agreement forms. These must be read & signed by parents.
·         The activity fee is $100 this year and is due ASAP. ·         Eagle Creek & Bible Church practices: We only have a couple parents who have signed up to carpool kids to these very important practices. Runners would need picked up from the high school at 3:10 PM and driven to those locations. Parents would have the responsibility of picking up their kids at the conclusion of practice just as if practice was ending at school. Please e-mail me ASAP if you are able to help out. We need drivers on the following dates:
