BHS Boys' XC Memo for August 26th

CC parents & team,

Tomorrow's practice: I just wanted to remind/inform all of you that Tuesday's practice this week begins and ends at Eagle Creek Park (3:30 - 5:30).  We meet in the small parking lot just southeast of the park.  Coming from Brownsburg, you go past the park entrance on 56th St and make your first right about 50 yards after the park.  The parking lot is right there on the left. Do not go into the park.

All of the boys today said that they have rides now.  Six of them will be riding with Mrs. Bond, a few with Mrs. Waggoner, and I have room for a couple more if need be.  I will be returning to the high school if anybody needs a ride back.  Boys, make sure to bring all of your clothes, bookbags, etc. with you, as we will not be getting back into the locker rooms after practice.

Paperwork & Fee: Most of the boys are done with having parents electronically sign the paperwork online and pay the $100 activity fee. Today is the deadline if you have not done so! Go to the athletic department web site and click on "information" to access those forms.

Riding home with parents: There is a new online form to be filled out each time a team member rides with a parent after a meet. Please remember that all team members must ride the bus unless going to a function outside Brownsburg after the meet.  Thank you!

Plainfield Relays

The boys' cross-country team was in action again Saturday at the Plainfield Relays, a race in which pairs alternate one-mile repeats for a total of 6 miles.  The Bulldogs had a very strong showing, placing 7th out of 18 teams, thanks in big part to our #1 team of Mark Bond and Hari Sathyamurthy.  The dynamic duo placed 10th overall out of 80 finishers.  Bond had the team’s fastest average, traversing the course at a clip of 4 minutes and 55 seconds per mile!

Sathyamurthy followed Bond's pace, averaging 5:08 per mile, while Elijah Wagner (5:16 per mile), Brandon Britton (5:21 per mile), Marcus Fierek (5:22), and Seth Webster (5:23) turned in stellar performances on the flat, grassy loop.  Caleb Krizan was the top Brownsburg finisher in the JV race, cruising 2 miles in a time of 11:50.

Kendall's Kick-Off Hokum Karum

The boys' cross-country team opened its 2013 campaign by dropping a three-way relay meet with Fishers (6 points) and Mount Vernon (18 points). The Bulldogs finished with 21 points but had many very strong and promising performances on the evening.  Mark Bond was the fastest Dog with an average time of 5 minutes and 6 seconds per mile for the three-mile race. Newcomer Hari Sathyamurthy and sophomore Marcus Fierek came home next fastest, as each of them clocked 5 minutes and 22 seconds per mile, followed closely by Devon Boone at 5:28 per mile.  Seth Webster, Brandon Britton, and Anthony Jones rounded out the top seven fastest Bulldogs at the Mount Vernon venue.

Brownsburg Cross-Country Memo for August 16th

CC team & parents,

Please make note of the following items:

·         Some team members still have not turned in their expectation agreement forms. These must be read & signed by parents.
·         The activity fee is $100 this year and is due ASAP. The increase in the amount is due to increased travel costs and the athletic department having to pay for the whole cost of transportation this year. This does include, however, the all sports pass for team members to get into any Bulldog home event at no additional cost.
·         All paperwork must be signed online ASAP. Go to the athletic department website and click on "Information." (http://www.brownsburgathletics.com/Documents)
·         Eagle Creek & Bible Church practices: We only have a couple parents who have signed up to carpool kids to these very important practices. Runners would need picked up from the high school at 3:10 PM and driven to those locations. Parents would have the responsibility of picking up their kids at the conclusion of practice just as if practice was ending at school. Please e-mail me ASAP if you are able to help out. We need drivers on the following dates:
Eagle Creek Park: 8/27, 9/3, 9/24
Brownsburg Bible Church (straight out Tilden, 2 miles from school) 9/17 & 9/30
·         Cross country webpage: find the most up-to-date stats, information, schedules, and photographs on my webpage at the following address... http://brownsburgcc.blogspot.com/
or go to the athletic department website, click on Cross country, then Coaches Blog Site.

BHS Boys' Cross-Country Weekly Memo August 11th

CC team & parents,

One good week of training down, about 10 to go! We do have a last-minute schedule change, like usual.  The HCC (Conference) has been changed to Noblesville due to a scheduling conflict at Lafayette Harrison.  The departure and meet times stay the same. Please make note of this coming week's events:

  • "Spike Night" shoe purchase and pizza party at Runners Forum after practice Tuesday, August 13 .  Parents may come in to write checks.  Any kids with over 400 miles on his shoes need new training shoes ASAP; those with over 200 miles will need new shoes mid-season; and anyone who has had his shoes for more than six months will need shoes ASAP.  Running spikes aren't a must but will make you faster.
  • "Parent meeting" will be the next night, Wednesday, August 14 at 5:45 PM in the swimming pool classroom.  Entrance #9 by the tennis courts will be open.  The classroom will be the first door on your left, or you may follow my directions from entrance #8 that were given the other day.
  • T-shirt and yard sign order forms will be coming within the week!

Thanks for reading and have a good weekend!
