State finalists!

To say that the boys' & girls'2009 cross-country state finals was successful is akin to saying that the Titanic was a little boat. Not only was the girls appearance in the state finals the first ever for Brownsburg, but the squad managed to bring home an impressive 13th place finish! Sydney Lesko paced the Dogs in 12th place (second-team All-State honors), and she had great help from Maddie Webster in 28th and Veronica Goduto in 48th.

In the boys' race, Scott Vicenzi ran to an amazing 3rd-place finish, only 10 seconds behind the individual champion. This race ended a great career for Scott, who not only finished "All-State" for two years in a row but also crushed the school record by 31 seconds this season.

The Dogs' produced three all-time school bests in this year's state finals:
Girls' individual finish ... Sydney Lesko
Boys' individual finish... Scott Vicenzi
Girls' team finish... 13th

2009 Cross-Country State Finalists!

Overcoming the odds, the girls put together a performance for the ages at the Carmel semi state and brought home the first state finals appearance in school history! Led by the outstanding 8th, 11th, and 16th place finishes by the dynamic trio of Maddie Webster, Sydney Lesko, and Veronica Goduto, the Bulldogs edged out perennial state power Westfield by a mere 2 points to earn the sixth and final qualifying spot for the finals. KJ gaerke, Rachel Smith, Haley Wittig, and Sammy Rush also ran outstandingly well to secure the trip to Terre Haute. On the boys' side, Scott vicenzi earned his second straight state finals appearance by finishing runner-up!
